Weddings
Each
and every season in the Great Smoky Mountains brings
abundant beauty and a wonderful and idyllic setting
to visit. Whether it's the Spring blossoms, the clear
vista views in Summer, the vast array of color during
Fall or the gentle falling of snowflakes in Winter that
peaks your interest, The Great Smoky Mountains is the
perfect location to celebrate the joining of two lives
together in marriage. Everything that you could possibly
want, or expect, from a destination wedding in the mountains
is available here.
With
more than 30 wedding chapels in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg
and Sevierville, it's no wonder this area is considered
to be the Wedding Capitol of the South. It's estimated
that more than 30,000 couples choose The Great Smoky
Mountains as the place to begin their married life.
Beyond the chapels, there is an assortment of stunning
locations to tie the knot such as Cades Cove or along
the Little Pigeon River. Many couples choose to get
married right in the cabin they've rented for their
honeymoon!
There
are a few things that any couple wanting to get married
in Tennessee must remember.

Get
a valid Tennessee Marriage License. There is no
waiting period and an appointment is not necessary
to obtain the license. Proof of age is required
by a driver's license, state-issued picture ID,
a valid passport or certified birth certificate.
A blood test is not required and applicants need
not be residents of Sevier County to wed there.
The license costs $36 and may be used anywhere in
the state of Tennessee. The County Clerk will only
take cash in the exact amount. |

Make
reservations for everything - don't just assume
that you can show up and get married right then.
There are several wedding planning services in the
area and most every chapel will have package options
available. |

If
your dream wedding includes a mountain top ceremony
or a historic setting within Cades Cover or the
National Park, you will in most cases need a permit.
Historic structures in Cades Cover include the Primitive
Baptist or Methodist Churches. You'll need to contact
the Park's Ranger Activities Division at (865) 436-1266
and request an application for a permit. There is
no charge for the permit. However, there are guidelines
that you must follow if you choose one of these
structures, including; no candles or lamps are allowed.
You'll also want to keep in mind parking at any
location for it can be extremely limiting in some
places. An application to marry in Cades Cove must
be submitted to the Cades Cove Center. |
